Sky subsidiary, Sky CP, latest company to choose Essex as a location base

Brentwood Stone Cross buildingBrentwood continues to be an attractive location for businesses moving out of London with Sky subsidiary, Sky CP, becoming the latest to move to the town. Sky have signed a 15-year lease for Stone Cross, a 40,000-sq. ft. office building in Brentwood, with an annual rent of £1.1 million. Sky CP designs and manufactures Sky set top boxes which were previously manufactured by Amstrad, also previously based in Brentwood, until it was bought by Sky. Sky will move its research and development and office operation from its current base to the Brentwood site.

"We are very pleased to have let Stone Cross ahead of the existing tenant’s upcoming lease expiry, which is testament to the strength of the building’s location and excellent car parking provision.”

Brentwood’s strategic location

Part of Brentwood’s appeal is its outstanding connectivity links. The borough has excellent connectivity through rail and road connections including links with the M25 and A12 and fast rail links with London and East Anglia. These links will further improve with the new Elizabeth Line connection.

“With office supply remaining critically low in Brentwood, plus the new Elizabeth Line connection and the excellent town centre amenities on the door step, the Stone Cross building is unparalleled in Brentwood and we were able to set a new headline rent as a result."

The town combines a high-quality environment with close proximity to London with a well-qualified workforce. Other companies which have chosen to take advantage of the benefits of Brentwood as a business base include Bibby Financial services (BFS), who moved to their Brentwood location in 2017 and Shawbrook Bank who are firmly established in the town.

“Brentwood is a fantastic location as we expand in the future. With fantastic transport links to London and the South East, the Midlands, East and South of England, Brentwood is a strategically important location for us. In addition, Brentwood and the surrounding areas are a hotspot for enterprise, enabling us to expand our support for UK PLC at a time when many small businesses need a helping hand.”
